Tamlyn Anderson

In 2011 I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and became a registered HCPC and HPCSA Clinical Psychologist. In 2022 I qualified as a certified Psycho-Sexologist through the European Federation of Sexology (EFS) and European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM). I am also a My Sexual Health (MSH) sex therapist and senior team member and provide therapy, supervision, and workshops.
I run an international online private practice providing two lines of treatment. The first is as a Clinical Psychologist, I have extensive experience in various hospital settings and within multidisciplinary teams, and I provide psychological treatment to adults across the board of all psychiatric conditions. The second line of treatment is sexual health. I specialize in the treatment of human sexuality from a biopsychosocial perspective, tailoring therapy to an individual’s personal needs. The patient-therapist relationship is of the utmost importance, in order to ensure a safe and meaningful therapeutic journey. In all of my treatments I provide as a specialist I focus on the impact that long-term stress, burnout and trauma has on the brain, body and mind.

Work History

After completing my training, I had my private practice at the Netcare Rehabilitation Hospital for five years, where I specialized in trauma and reintegration therapy with patients who had suffered severe physical trauma. This included spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, orthopaedic injuries, autoimmune disease, and near drownings. Therapy focus was trauma interventions as well as work with premorbid psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, trauma, psychosis, and personality disorders. During this time I was also a lecturer at Monash University, where I designed and implemented honours and third-year modules. I enjoy teaching and providing supervision to students, as well as fellow colleagues.
For seven years, I was involved in specialised work in the field of Functional Neurological Disorder, whereby I am affiliated with Wits Donald Gordan Medical Hospital. My work included individual based therapy, designing and leading educational seminars for individuals with functional neurological disorder and their family members, as well as designing group-based work.
My private practice in South Africa was opened in 2013 and went online in 2020 when I moved to Scotland and have continued providing therapeutic care to people worldwide. I developed and designed a mode of treatment called Autonomic Nervous System Regulation Treatment (ANSRT) which focuses on increasing self-awareness and becoming empowered through mastering the connection between the brain, body and mind. I have always had an interest in sexual health, couples therapy and intimacy couching and in 2020, I joined the My Sexual Health (MSH) team collaborating with like-minded professionals in the care of sexual health concerns. In 2022 I became a certified Psycho-Sexologist with the European Federation of Sexology (EFS) and European Society of Sexual Medicine (ESSM). Since then I have joined my passion for mental health with my passion for sexology, helping individuals and couples to manifest a life of authenticity and well-being. I pride myself in my love for educating others and I have developed and created of various workshops and educational programs around sexual health.
